Subsidies for electric driving at a glance

29 november 2024

Nowadays it is important to make sustainable choices. By making sustainable choices, you can help the environment. For example, the government is increasingly encouraging people to drive electrically. Of course, you can make the switch to electric driving at 123Lease. This sustainable choice is rewarded with various subsidies. We have listed all the subsidies available for you below.

SEPP: for private individuals

At 123Lease you can lease a car as an entrepreneur. It is therefore good to know that the SEPP does not apply to you if you lease a car from us. Of course, we will list all the subsidies that apply for you.

The first subsidy that you can still use - until 2025 - is the SEPP subsidy. This is a subsidy specifically for private individuals who want to drive electric. This applies to private individuals who want to buy or privately lease an electric car. With this subsidy you can receive a subsidy, making it even more attractive to opt for an electric car. If you buy or privately lease a new electric car, you can apply for a subsidy of 2950 euros. If you buy or lease a used electric car, you can receive a subsidy of 2000 euros. It is important that you bought or leased the car on 1 January or later. You can only use the SEPP subsidy in 2024, as this subsidy will be abolished in 2025. This subsidy therefore does not apply to financial lease drivers!

SEBA: for the entrepreneur

A subsidy that you can use if you lease a car from 123Lease is the SEBA subsidy. The SEBA subsidy is specifically intended for entrepreneurs who want to financially lease or buy an emission-free company car. It is also good to know that this subsidy, like the SEPP subsidy, is still valid until the end of 2024. If you apply for this subsidy, you can receive a maximum subsidy of 5000 euros per company car as an entrepreneur. For this, you must first submit an application, which must then be approved. Also delve into the conditions that a car must meet. For example, it must be a new car and the company car may not emit any harmful substances.

MIA/Vamil

The environmental investment deduction, the MIA, is a subsidy specifically for entrepreneurs. Entrepreneurs must pay income tax or corporate tax to qualify for the MIA. You can apply for the MIA for business assets that are on the Environmental List: for example, an emission-free company car. These must of course meet certain conditions. If so, you can benefit from tax advantages. This is because you can reduce your profit with this subsidy and therefore pay less tax. This subsidy is also often combined with the other subsidy: Vamil. This is a random depreciation of 75 percent on environmental investments, where you can also benefit from an advantage. This subsidy is also specifically for entrepreneurs who make sustainable choices.

SVVE

A subsidy has also been created specifically for homeowners' associations. With this subsidy, a homeowners' association can be made more energy-efficient, for example by making room for charging stations in the parking lot. You can also ask for advice regarding charging points from this subsidy. More and more people are driving electric and of course this also includes charging stations. Only (part of) the construction of these charging points can be covered by the subsidy. In addition, there are more conditions attached to this subsidy.

Municipal subsidies

In addition to national subsidies, you can also take a look at subsidies from your municipality. Each municipality can draw up subsidies that only apply in that municipality. For example, there are municipalities where you can apply for a public charging station for free. There are often conditions for this, for example that it is not possible to place a charging station at your home.

No bpm for electric vans

Until 31 December 2024, you can still use the bpm exemption for company cars as an entrepreneur. This will change from 1 January 2025: you will then have to pay bpm, so that it is rectified for both the entrepreneur and the private individual. You pay bpm when a car has to be registered in the Netherlands. This can therefore be a new car, or a used car that is imported from abroad.

Fortunately, an exception has been made for entrepreneurs who want to drive an electric van. For this, you do not have to pay bpm. The emission of the vehicle is examined: the more this emission, the more bpm you have to pay. An electric commercial vehicle naturally emits virtually no harmful substances, which rewards you by not having to pay bpm.

No road tax for electric cars until 2025

Until 2025, you can also benefit from another advantage, namely that you do not have to pay road tax for your electric car. Keep in mind that this will change from 2025. So now is the right time to lease an electric car from 123Lease, so that you can still benefit from the road tax exemption. In 2025, you will not have to pay the entire amount of road tax, but you will still receive a 75 percent discount this year. The road tax is calculated on the basis of a number of points, such as emissions, the type of car and the weight. Keep in mind that electric vehicles are heavier than fuel cars.

Even more benefits of electric driving

So there are a number of subsidies that you can use if you drive electric. Keep in mind that these subsidies often apply until 2025: so at the time of writing you can only use the subsidy for a short while. Fortunately, electric driving offers even more advantages .

1. Accessible everywhere

With the arrival of environmental zones and zero-emission zones in more and more cities, you are safe with an electric car. An electric car does not emit any harmful substances and that means that you are simply welcome in these zones. These zones were specifically created to keep out vehicles that pollute the environment. Think of diesel trucks and passenger cars, for example.

2. Environmentally friendly

In addition, electric vehicles are environmentally friendly, because they emit almost no harmful substances when compared to the fuel car. This is of course the biggest advantage of electric vehicles.

3. Comfort

An electric car drives a lot differently than a fuel car. The car accelerates faster and is very quiet. You will also quickly discover that an electric car drives very comfortably.
